A MetalkinG performance is a concentrated and intense affair : equipped with the barest essentials, a bass guitar and a couple of electronics junks, Bronson improvises fast and loud japanoïse. Riojim work methods are as crudely effective as those of Bronson: he apply severe treatment to the projector, play around with the film and the homemade optical sound-on-film. - Richarles Bronson bass & electronic Riojim16mm projector To MetalkinG website - - - - - Riojim Etienne Caire runs the Atelier MTK in Grenoble where he teaches DIY film processing, contact and optical printing and editing. - He is particularly attracted to abstract animation, the pleasure of physically modifying images on the film via twisted and other chemical treatments frowned on by professional labs. He pushes the possibilities of the emulsion to the edge. - The material produced in the laboratory becomes a work of improvisation integrating all the parameters of projection. By means of prepared projectors, he applies severe treatment to the projector and plays with the film and the homemade optical sound on film to create a real visual music. - http://www.vimeo.com/user914221 - - - - - Richarles Bronson After he discovered improvisation and abstract musics, Richarles Bronson concentrated his musical practices towards abstraction and the loss of influential points of reference. - His musical approach tends to be both intuitive and radical which breaks with his previously acquired points of reference. This has urged Richarles to give up with any narrative intention and to question the very idea of linearity. Such an approach questions our cultural aesthetics and denies any listening convenience. - Richarles Bronson doesn't attempt to play music, but to sculpt a sonic, compact and sensual mass, which not only appeals to the ear but also questions the place of the body in hearing.
